gift guide 2011: for your geeky man

Hello there! This is David, the future husband and co-star to Chelsea’s life. She asked me to do a guest post for her, and we decided it should be some sort of gift guide for men. However, I soon realized that there are not many gift guides that I would be an expert for. Men’s fashion? No. Man-scaping accessories? Not so much. But, if there is one thing I know, it is how to be a geeky dude. So without further ado, I present the gift guide for the geeky man in your life:

gift guide 2011: for your favorite elf

This is the guide for the people who love Christmas.  I mean love Christmas.  The guide for those of us who start our Christmas music in October, who wrap gifts with fervor, shop for presents all year ’round, and who get a little annoyed at Thanksgiving for standing between you and your favorite holiday.  This year we are living in our first house and when it came time to put up the decorations, it was a little lacking.  This is a dream Christmas prep guide.

126 places to shop online

I love to shop. In stores and online*. I am putting up this guide, because shopping online gives you options you might not otherwise have access to, and also, battling the crowds this time of year is miserable. I found it fitting to post this bad boy up on Cyber Monday… I know several of these shops are having excellent sales. So have fun and I hope this is useful!

*You should be alarmed. I have a shopping problem. I have even started stopping and letting kiosk people buff my nails!

a thanksgiving favorite

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!  I hope that you all have a lovely day.  David and I are celebrating Thanksgiving at our house.  It will be just the two of us and the pups.  We have never really held a holiday on our own, so it will be a little different, but hopefully sweet and delicious.  I am attempting to make a brisket-  I’ll let you know how it goes.  Anyways, today I wanted to share a Thanksgiving favorite.  They are actually perfect all fall and winter, but these muffins are a Thanksgiving must!  I baked this batch last night, and the whole house still smells amazing  Here is my very simple recipe for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins. xo

wedding planning: guest book

The wedding is getting closer, and I am concentrating more on the details.  Most of the vendors are booked and the major arrangements are made, and I am ready to find fun ways to personalize the wedding and wrap up the small things.  This is the idea, instead of a guest book we were thinking of having all of our guests fill up a perpetual birthday calendar.  I am not really sure where people would write a little note, but on the other hand are those rushed guest book signings usually meaningful?  Seriously, I need to know.  Married gals, give me some advice.  Creative people- suggest away!

Can you all believe next week is Thanksgiving?  I can’t…the time has flown.  I am definitely excited about the holiday season.  Did you check out the gift guides on La Petite Coquin?   Michelle picked out our link for today.  I laughed so hard.  So cute and funny… tomorrow I will post a full reading list, but I hope this makes your Friday even better. xo

curiouser & curiouser

This post is a wonderland of our favorite furniture finds. Chelsea and I want to play a little game to see if you can distinguish our taste.  One of us is Tweedledee and one is Tweedledum; can you tell who is who?

nathalie boutte

Well, frazzled is how I feel today.  First of all, Thanksgiving is next week and I work the day before and after.  That is followed by our honeymoon…which is thrilling, but it always seems like there are so many loose ends to tie up before leaving town.  Michelle and I are working on some exciting projects, that I can’t wait to share with you.  I am working two retail jobs during the holidays and I feel like there is one other thing…OH YEAH, the wedding.  I love all of these projects, the travel, my friends, my man, but it can all be a bit overwhelming.  Does it sound like I am whining? Ugh, sorry.  Here is something beautiful to make up for my mini-rant.

a day in: Morocco

Ok, more like one glamorous night in Morocco.  But still, we should always aim for fabulous in my mind.  I love these bold colors, the python print, and the awesome shawl is both cute and useful for covering the shoulders when needed.  Anyone want to join me in my fantasy trip to Morocco?

Also, be sure to check out Lena‘s gift guide series starting today! She let me have some fun designing the layouts and I am excited for the first of five, today. xo

wedding planning: rehearsal dinner

Happy Monday, Luvies! Finally I had David at home and to myself this weekend.  We polished off some champagne, did a lot of brainstorming for the wedding, and practiced singing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.  I’m not kidding.  We are still learning all the lyrics and harmonies and we need to get the choreography down, but this is going to be our Christmas “thing.”  Possibilities for this wonderful brainchild of mine- blog post (obvi), music video and DVDs as Christmas presents, followed by a live performance Christmas Eve.

rehearsal dinner dress

I am looking for a dress for the rehearsal dinner.  The weather in Dallas is unpredictable to say the least, and in early March we could be looking at snow or 80 degree heat.  I don’t really mind if I am overdressed…I always like to be a little fancy.  Opinions?  Other suggestions?  I love that strapless BHLDN dress, but I am not sure I am going to want to rock strapless.  With a cute cardigan maybe?  Ok, give me all you’ve got! xo

holton rower

Buckets and Bunches welcomes Michelle as it’s newest contributing editor! You will see her posting weekly on the blog and even more exciting, she is my partner in crime in home styling, DIY, and fab decor. Don’t be surprised if the level of taxidermy and generally bizarre finds you see on the blog triples. So friends, prep yourself for some fun projects, posts and adventures brought to you by us!

The Huffington Post describes Holton Rower‘s “Pour Series” as “Part messy and childish, part organized and sophisticated, Rower’s paintings are completely hypnotic.” I have to agree. The process looks so fun and free and the resulting works of art are a little trippy, but could look amazing in the right space.
