THE best nail polish removers

Yes, I am making some bold claims over here today, but I am extremely confident. I love nail polish. I usually paint my nails at least once a week, and if I’m feeling indecisive or need the zen of nail painting, sometimes more. Since my favorites include some very dark colors and a lot of glitter, a polish remover that takes the hassle out of the process is a must. It is also important that the polish doesn’t kill my nails. I have two nail polish remover favorites. The first is Zoya Remove Plus Nail Remover. Read more…

the governess

Today I move back to Dallas for the summer and tomorrow I start watching these two gorgeous kids again. Do I feel like I am regressing, going back to my job from two years ago? A little. But being in Dallas this summer is just what I think I need. Ha! On top of that Yolanda sent me a message the other day asking how I liked the sound of governess.  Don’t you love it? Yo said it has more flair than nanny and is a little retro. I fully plan on making clothes out of drapes and teaching the children life lessons through song. Here are some pictures of Ruby and Tripp from our wedding… Read more…

trunk club

Hello friends. Did you have a good three day weekend? I spent one more weekend in Chicago and am heading to Dallas today. David sent me a link to Trunk Club a while ago, and when we drove past their Chicago headquarters my interest was reignited. Read more…

lovely links: 5.25.12

I am feeling so grateful right now. Next week I go to Dallas where I will work with my favorite little family again.  This week I got to wake up and go to bed with David every night.  It felt like such an indulgence. I also got to lounge around the hotel, catch up on blogs, read books, and nap.  I am ready for the weekend after such a relaxed week.  Please leave your Chicago suggestions in the comments or shoot me an email. I hope you had a good week and have great plans for the weekend. xo Read more…

we like we love

So, do you all read We Like We Love?  It is an online publication that is also available to purchase in print. The creator, Alyssa, is such an inspiration for me.  She is a graphic designer with a pretty sweet aesthetic. I love the branding work she does, because you see her touch in it, while it still encompasses the brand/client so well. Her blog, I Like Nice Things is awesome.  I mean, with a name like that you know you are in for some goodness. Ok, I could gush for a while. Back to the magazine.  It is a fantastic place to discover new art, inspiring style, and other people in the creative field. Issue 10 of WLWL had a photo-shoot by the photographer Yuji Watanabe. He said the shoot was inspired by his Japanese identity with an unnatural presence introduced into the photos.  I love them. Care to take a look… Read more…

I can’t get these images out of my head. Today I am loving saturated hues, bold flowers, and, as always, elephants. I’m keeping it short and sweet today. What is inspiring you these days as summer unfolds?

hair inspiration: brigitte bardot

Summer in Texas is hot. So hot.  A great up-do is a summer essential. Brigitte Bardot is a huge inspiration for totally glamorous, slightly unkempt hair.  I need to get the guts and make my own tutorial, but for now I am going to put you on the right path… Read more…

chi-town

On Friday I flew to Chicago to meet David.  I got there late Friday night so we ordered room-service at the W Lakeshore where we stayed.  If you are there- have the three cheese grilled cheese sandwich.  With arugula and bacon it was pretty incredible and came with a side of truffle fries. Yum!  Our room had a fabulous view of the lake… Read more…

obsessions

Did you all catch the Glitter Guide feature on Nicolette Mason? Oh, my love for this gal is monumental.  I love her fashion philosophy ( deliberately feminine), her curves, her devotion to pink and glitter.  She is well versed in culture and fashion and such an inspiration to me. Nicolette is definitely a girl after my own heart. As I poured over her blog archives last night, I had to agree with her on designer Chris Benz. I know these photos aren’t that recent and you savvy people have probably known about Chris and Nicolette for a while now, but I can’t get these images out of my brain. Read more…

sweet feet salvation

While in Charleston I spent a day exploring this city while Lissy wrapped up her conference.  It was gorgeous, I loved being outside, but about two hours before I was supposed to meet Liss I was walking with a particularly disturbing gait because my feet hurt so badly.  The sandals I was sporting seemed to rub wrong everywhere and had no support.  I decided to head back to King Street and buy a pair of shoes I could walk in.  The first store I hit was J.Crew and I bought the first shoe I saw in the store.  This glorious shoe was the Cece ballet flat.  I bought it in Sienna.  Oh, I walked out of the store with my new shoes on.  They were a little pricey, but the quality is so good and they were such a welcome relief. I am very satisfied with my purchase and am now on the hunt for some seriously walkable sandals.  Suggestions my friends?  Which pair of shoes do you have that you can log some serious mileage in? back in town

Charleston was an absolute delight. The city, quaint and sweet, provided Lissy and I with endless amounts of biscuits and fun. It was so nice to have a girl’s trip and I can’t wait to share the rest of the trip. Read more…

Um, so this makes me smile.  I love how bright and clever these are.  They are by French food blogger Emilie Griottes.  I hope these make you smile today.  I know this post is short and sweet, but I am not only trying to get things in order for my trip later this week, but also for my little relo to Dallas for the summer.
