chelsea and david's wedding

our wedding video / dulock productions

We received our wedding video from Jamie and Cody of Dulock Productions right after Thanksgiving. I was sick and not up to anything, so that amazing duo dropped this incredible package on the porch for me.

creep week: witchy wedding

I could tell you that this week’s theme, “creepy”, is purely a tribute to Halloween. Honestly though, playing vampires with Ruby all summer had a kind of snowball effect on my brain. Read more…

wedding film/ dulock productions

Working with Cody and Jamie of Dulock Productions was a dream. These two are amazingly talented. I have gushed about them before here, but I want to keep on gushing. Read more…

ta-dah

Do you like the title of this post? Sometimes I am just so friggin’ brilliant. Today my lovely blog friend, Lena, is posting up our wedding. I am so thrilled to be on A Crimson Kiss and to start sharing our wedding goodness. Read more…

will you be my bridesmaid?

One of our lovely friends just got engaged and is looking for a cute way to ask her maids to join in on the the wedding festivities. There are so many cute ideas out there (see the links below) but I thought it would be cute for this gal to do something thematic. Right now she determined to get married in Napa, and I thought a little care package along the wine lines might be perfect.

events by kristin

Not wanting to be stressed on the day of my wedding, I set up an interview during a trip to Dallas with a wedding coordinator my DJ had suggested to me.  At our first meeting I recognized that Kristin was upbeat, organized, and super charming.  Events by Kristin, her company, does both wedding planning and wedding and event coordinating.  We hired Kristin as the month before and day-of coordinator, meaning that she would get me super-organized, coordinate all of the vendors, help with last minute details, and be familiar enough with me and our event that on the day of the wedding she could seamlessly take over.  And she did.  But she also did so much more.

you must read this.

Seriously, read this.  I love Lena.  I seriously love her blog, A Crimson Kiss, but I love her as a person even more.  She reached out to me when I had two readers.  Two.  I asked if she would guest post while wedding planning, she did, and the shoes were perfection.  She posted while I was on my honeymoon about flaming brandy punch, and I wanted to go to the little soiree I imagined her hosting.  She asked me to help with some gift guide design work on her blog, and I felt so honored.  Even more important than all this posting is the friendship we have developed.  We have never met in person, but email all the time and I truly call her a friend.  This is why I blog, the friendships and the feedback.  I love watching her site grow and feel honored to know her when I read through the comments she receives.

seriously sappy day 2

I met Dana at Blogshop.  I was shy and nervous, and Dana and I found each other and were instant friends.  The mix of perfectionist and absent-minded listener in me meant I asked a lot of questions. Dana was right there to help. People, this is one smart girl.  At the time she was writing The Dream Bed.  Since then, she transitioned over to her awesome tumblr Silly Beautiful.  I love it. Completely original content, most of it created by her.  She wrote a truly gorgeous guest post over here before, which you need to see if you haven’t. She was recently engaged, and I am honestly so happy for her. These crazy kids are in love.  And you gotta love that Dana is going to rock her glasses for her big day. So, enjoy today’s continuation of seriously sappy week. Read more…

teaser trailer

Quick drop in to share our teaser trailer from Dulock Productions.  Cody and Jamie, were a dream to work with.  They would appear and help at the right moments, disappear to capture the perfect candid footage at others.  We knew everything was going to look great when they showed us a little peek at the end of the night, and then I started freaking out with happiness when we got the actual trailer ON MONDAY! They are adorable, sweet, creative, and seem to know exactly what I am thinking and what David and I envisioned. SO happy.  I really can’t wait to tell you about all of our vendors, aka, the dream team.  They were amazing. Sigh. I am a little sad it is all over, does anyone want help planning a wedding?  I am so in.

jessica’s wedding takeaways

I was so excited that Jessica agreed to guest post.  I always loved following  What I Wore, but when I met Jessica at Alt, she stole my heart. Jessica is so authentic, so sweet.  She was willing to talk about everything from making it in blogging, to her wedding, to lipstick colors. Seriously, we email about lipstick.  Love this gal.  I am so glad I got her takeaways before my wedding day.  I ate, I napped, I took a moment, I saved a couple of little tasks to do that day.  It was all great advice. Read this and then save it. xo
PS- This week’s theme is seriously sappy, so get ready!

sadie, sadie married lady

Hello friends!  I have more fabulous guest posts lined up for you this week, starting tomorrow, but I had to pop in real quick.  I am married! wedded bliss day 4

All of my guest posters are really special to me, but today I have Molly and Sally from a Piece of Toast.  I remember the day I discovered their blog. I read through the entire archives. Adorable sisters who obsess over nail polish and have great taste in design and fashion? What’s not to love. Plus, they include information about their process, their lives, and keeping it real (at least a little bit) is important to me in a blog.  It is what keeps me coming back. Fast forward to January where Molly roomed with me and Victoria at Alt. OH. It was amazing. After that we just wanted to talk and talk and luckily I have been in Dallas a lot so I actually get to see this girl in person and finally meet Sally. They are both cute as a button and hold a very special place in my heart. Molls, I will see you Saturday. And yes, I really do want you to be there.

the favors

To us, any bride that puts enough thought into sending favors home with guest is already going above and beyond… But we also think that when it comes to favors, there are two keys for fool-proof success: yum food and great packaging. Think about it – what’s a guest going to enjoy more: a CD to put hours into creating that they may never listen to, or something delicious they can eat on the car ride home or as part of breakfast the next morning?

wedding planning: packing

While not exactly a destination wedding, we are getting married in Dallas.  I will be leaving either Sunday or Monday and staying at my mom’s house the week before (to finish projects and spend some much needed time catching up with the people I love there).  This has me a little frantic, since I need to remember and pack everything I will need for the week of the wedding. My mom, that genius, suggested making an extensive packing list.  Today I will be tackling all of my laundry and organizing my jewelry and accessories, that way I can start packing on Friday.  The easiest way for me to stay calm is to make a list and a plan.  I will make plans constantly throughout the day.  I actually used to try and hide this need to have a plan, because I thought it made me a loser.  All the cool kids were super spontaneous and go-with-the-flow.  Now I just put it out there, because I am seriously a calmer and better person with a list and a plan.  I have linked to my packing list, just in case anyone ever needs to reference it. last minute addition

To our registry that it.  I have gushed about Sweet and Saucy Supply before, and I am back to obsess again.  I just added these fabulous mercury glass pedestal bowls to our registry this week. There are three, and I can’t resist a good grouping.  I almost didn’t post them, because I am selfish and love them so much, but I love you readers too, so here goes.  They are beautiful, romantic, and vintage. Enough said. Read more…

wedding planning: makeup/hair trial run

Why was I nervous about my wedding makeup and hair trial run?  It is really hard to say.  All of my crazy is coming out right now, in very strange ways.  Determined to not stress or become a bidezilla I keep chaneling my worry into very specific facets.  I was literally losing sleep wondering if airbrush foundation would work on me. It truly is exhausting being this high strung. Seriously. I want to nap on average about every two hours these days.  It could be getting over that sick bout, but I think it is a sick/stress combo.  Back to the makeup and hair.  I LOVE it when someone plays with my hair or does my makeup.  It is so relaxing. My time on Sunday with my mom and Kelly Shiva of Makeup Logic was delightful.  I loved the results, loved the conversations, loved being pampered. Mmm…Someday I would like to have someone do my hair everyday.  When I noticed the Real Housewives fighting over their hair stylists, I too thought it was ridiculous. Now, I could totally picture getting into a brawl over it. Read more…
